14 Days Japan Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tokyo

Arrive in Tokyo and transfer to your hotel. After settling in, take a walk through the surrounding neighborhood to experience the city’s lively atmosphere. Visit Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest intersections in the world, and explore nearby shops and restaurants. Spend the evening enjoying Japanese cuisine such as sushi or ramen.

Day 2: Traditional Tokyo

Begin the day in Asakusa where you can visit Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist temple. Walk through Nakamise Street where traditional shops sell snacks and souvenirs. Later, visit Tokyo Skytree for panoramic views of the city skyline. Spend the evening exploring nearby districts or enjoying dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 3: Modern Tokyo

Visit Meiji Shrine, a peaceful Shinto shrine located in a forested area near the busy Harajuku district. Walk through Harajuku and Takeshita Street known for trendy fashion and cafés. Continue to Shinjuku where you can explore shopping centers, observation decks, and lively entertainment areas. Enjoy the bright city lights in the evening.

Day 4: Day Trip to Hakone

Travel to Hakone, a scenic region known for its hot springs and views of Mount Fuji. Take a cruise across Lake Ashi and see the famous torii gate of Hakone Shrine. Ride the Hakone Ropeway for spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and volcanic landscapes. Return to Tokyo or stay overnight nearby.

Day 5: Travel to Kyoto

Take the Shinkansen bullet train to Kyoto, Japan’s historic cultural capital. After arriving, explore the historic Gion district where traditional wooden houses line narrow streets. You may even spot geisha walking through the neighborhood.

Day 6: Kyoto Temples and Shrines

Visit Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of red torii gates that form a path up the mountainside. Continue to Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, one of Kyoto’s most famous temples surrounded by beautiful gardens. Spend the afternoon exploring additional temples or peaceful gardens around the city.

Day 7: Arashiyama District

Travel to the Arashiyama district on the outskirts of Kyoto. Walk through the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and visit nearby temples and scenic viewpoints. Cross the Togetsukyo Bridge and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and river.

Day 8: Day Trip to Nara

Travel to Nara, one of Japan’s oldest cities. Visit Todai-ji Temple, home to the giant Great Buddha statue. Walk through Nara Deer Park where friendly deer roam freely around the park. Explore nearby shrines and gardens before returning to Kyoto.

Day 9: Travel to Osaka

Travel to Osaka, known for its lively atmosphere and incredible street food. Visit Osaka Castle and walk through its surrounding park. In the evening, explore Dotonbori, a vibrant entertainment district filled with neon lights, restaurants, and food stalls.

Day 10: Explore Osaka

Spend the day exploring more of Osaka. Visit shopping districts and local markets or explore the city’s modern neighborhoods. Sample local specialties such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki while enjoying the energetic atmosphere of the city.

Day 11: Travel to Hiroshima

Take the bullet train to Hiroshima. Visit Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome, important historical sites dedicated to remembering the events of World War II. Explore museums that share the story of the city’s recovery and resilience.

Day 12: Miyajima Island

Take a ferry to Miyajima Island, known for its famous floating torii gate at Itsukushima Shrine. Explore the island’s temples, scenic walking paths, and coastal views. Return to Hiroshima later in the day.

Day 13: Return to Tokyo

Travel back to Tokyo by bullet train. Spend the day exploring Ginza, one of Tokyo’s most famous shopping districts. Visit markets and department stores, and enjoy your final evening experiencing the energy of the city.

Day 14: Departure

On your final day, visit Tsukiji Outer Market to try a variety of Japanese street foods and seafood dishes. Enjoy a final walk through the city before transferring to the airport for your departure.
