Day 1: Arrival in Anchorage
Arrive in Anchorage and transfer to your hotel. Spend the day exploring Alaska’s largest city and getting oriented. Walk along the scenic Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which offers beautiful views of Cook Inlet and the surrounding mountains. Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center to learn about the traditions and cultures of Alaska’s Indigenous communities. In the evening, enjoy fresh seafood at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Explore Anchorage
Spend the morning hiking Flattop Mountain, one of the most popular trails in Anchorage, offering panoramic views of the city and nearby mountain ranges. Later, explore the Anchorage Museum to learn about Alaska’s history, wildlife, and art. In the afternoon, stroll through downtown Anchorage and browse local shops before preparing for your upcoming road trip.
Day 3: Drive to Seward
Drive along the scenic Seward Highway toward the coastal town of Seward. This route is considered one of the most beautiful drives in Alaska, with views of mountains, glaciers, and ocean inlets. Once in Seward, explore the harbor area and enjoy views of Resurrection Bay. Spend the evening walking along the waterfront.
Day 4: Kenai Fjords National Park
Spend the day exploring Kenai Fjords National Park. Take a glacier cruise through the fjords where you may see whales, sea lions, puffins, and massive tidewater glaciers. Later, visit Exit Glacier and take a short hike to see the glacier up close. Return to Seward for the evening.
Day 5: Travel to Homer
Drive along the scenic Kenai Peninsula to Homer, known as the “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World.” Enjoy views of mountains and ocean along the route. After arriving, walk along the Homer Spit, a narrow strip of land extending into Kachemak Bay filled with shops, restaurants, and fishing boats.
Day 6: Explore Homer
Spend the day enjoying outdoor activities in Homer. Take a boat tour across Kachemak Bay for hiking or wildlife viewing. Visit local art galleries or relax by the beach. If interested, try halibut fishing, one of the most popular activities in the region.
Day 7: Travel to Talkeetna
Begin the journey north toward Talkeetna, a small mountain town known as a gateway to Denali. Walk through the charming downtown area filled with historic buildings, cafés, and local shops. If weather permits, enjoy views of Denali in the distance.
Day 8: Denali Adventure
Take a flightseeing tour over Denali and the Alaska Range for incredible aerial views of glaciers and rugged mountains. Later, explore Denali National Park where you may see wildlife such as moose, caribou, bears, and wolves. Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful wilderness surroundings.
Day 9: Drive to Fairbanks
Travel north to Fairbanks, often called the gateway to the Arctic. The drive offers beautiful scenery and opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. After arrival, explore the town and relax for the evening.
Day 10: Fairbanks and Northern Lights
Visit Chena Hot Springs where you can relax in warm mineral pools surrounded by nature. Take a riverboat discovery tour along the Chena River to learn about Alaska’s frontier history. Depending on the season, you may experience the midnight sun in summer or the Northern Lights during colder months.
Day 11: Travel to Valdez
Begin your journey south toward Valdez, driving through the dramatic landscapes of Thompson Pass. Stop to admire waterfalls and glaciers along the way including Worthington Glacier. Arrive in Valdez, a beautiful coastal town surrounded by mountains.
Day 12: Prince William Sound
Spend the day exploring Prince William Sound. Take a boat tour or kayaking trip to see glaciers, fjords, and wildlife including sea otters and whales. Enjoy the quiet beauty of Alaska’s coastal wilderness.
Day 13: Return to Anchorage
Drive back to Anchorage through scenic mountain landscapes. Along the way, stop at viewpoints for photos and possible wildlife sightings. Visit a wildlife conservation center where you can see animals such as bears, bison, and elk.
Day 14: Departure
Spend a relaxed morning in Anchorage. Do some last-minute shopping for local crafts or souvenirs before heading to the airport for your departure.
